IFRS Foundation

The IFRS Foundation is a not-for-profit organization created in 2001 to develop high-quality standards for financial reporting and to promote and facilitate their adoption.

Its mission is to serve the public interest by fostering trust, growth and long-term financial stability in the global economy. The Foundation does this by developing and promoting the use of IFRS Standards, which are trusted by investors worldwide and required in more than 140 countries.

The Standards — IFRS® Accounting Standards and IFRS® Sustainability Disclosure Standards — are collectively referred to as IFRS® Standards. They are set by the Foundation’s two independent standard-setting bodies, the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), using a rigorous, inclusive and transparent due process. The standards bring transparency, accountability and efficiency to the global financial markets and help investors make better decisions.

The Foundation’s Trustees oversee the two boards and are accountable to a Monitoring Board of public authorities.
